The background

ProShine was an East Anglia valeting contractor, working since 2002 with over a hundred salaried valeters on dealership sites. Dealerships booked work and valeting teams carried it out through a web-based valet management system. In 2017 we were brought in to fix bugs and add features to that system.

The business has since stopped trading. This project takes the original brief and the original brand and rebuilds both the website and the system with today's tools, so that other dealership valeting firms can see and try something that works.

The build

The website keeps ProShine's black, charcoal and amber identity and its own words. It leads with the things a dealership manager looks for: what is covered, how it is managed, and where. The system is a small Node and SQLite application behind three kinds of login.

Dealerships add a valet with the registration, key number, service and the date and time it is needed. The valeting team moves it through its stages, and every change shows up for the dealership straight away.

Stack

  • Node.js Express SQLite Docker Nginx
The redesigned ProShine home page: an amber headline on black over a line drawing of a car, with buttons for dealership and retail valeting.
The valet management dashboard: five KPI cards, a chart of valets per day, a status donut and breakdowns by service and dealership.
The ProShine home page on a phone.
The Current Valets list with workshop and valeting status lights, registrations, key numbers, required date and time, and overdue and today markers.

What it does

  • A dashboard with due today, overdue, completed this week, on-time rate and average turnaround, plus charts by day, service, dealership and hour.
  • Workshop and valeting status lights on every booking. Only the valeting lights move a job between lists.
  • An Overdue screen for the valeting team, which also stays in Current Valets until the job is complete.
  • A weekly Handover Diary for sold vehicles and a Site Routine of fixed weekly tasks per dealership.
  • A shared Message Board that clears itself after a week, with unread counts in the menu.
  • Automatic emails to set addresses when a Stock vehicle is marked complete, with editable text for each dealership.
  • Admin tools to add dealerships and valeting sites, edit services and reset logins.
  • A booking form that checks every field, with the registration capitalised for you and dates in dd-mm-yyyy.

“By far the best freelancer I have worked with. Excellent communication and understanding of the project required. I would certainly recommend without the slightest hesitation and look forward to working with again.”
